It is the mission of the Transportation Department to provide safe and efficient transportation to ALL students.

As a support service to education, the Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District’s Transportation Department buses approximately 1200 students every day to a total of eight school sites. Service is also provided for athletic and extracurricular events. Our buses are operated by highly qualified drivers. The district’s vast boundaries expand over 560 square miles within Tulare and Fresno Counties. Overall, our buses travel over 130,500 miles annually. Our fleet of buses is inspected annually by the California Highway Patrol and is maintained by a conscientious maintenance staff. 

State law sets minimum walking distance for students. 

Cutler-Orosi District State Mandated Minimum K-3¾ of a mile K-3¼ of a mile 4-81 mile 4-8 1 mile 9-122 miles 9-12 2 mile 

The distance is measured by drawing a circular radius from a central location established at the school site campus and around the school within the school’s attendance boundary. Adjustments may be made depending on the geography of the neighborhood.

• Students living in excess of the defined zone will be provided with home-to-school transportation.

• Students living within these circles will not be eligible for home-to-school transportation.

Morning Pick-Up & Afternoon Drop-Off

Regular bus routes are assigned when students register at a school site. As part of the registration process, site staff will contact the Transportation Department and obtain bus route information. The parent will be given the bus route number as well as the morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off times.
