    Dear Cutler-Orosi Family,

Welcome to the 2015-16 School year!  Where we are a small but mighty school district focused on student academic success and preparation for college, career and citizenship.  What an exciting year we have ahead of us.  We are thrilled about the new leadership teams at our schools this year and we are pleased with the success we are having in the area of reading and teaching the new California State Standards.

Last school year was the first year we took the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), after two years of implementing the new California State Standards. This new test provided us with baseline data for improvement.  The CAASPP validated our district direction and focus on Literacy throughout the District.  All teachers and all students understand the importance of reading, reading benchmarks and are focused on achieving grade level reading or above in preparation of high stakes tests- CAASPP.

Our outstanding staff has worked hard to improve graduation rates in the District and graduation rates are improving every year by over 5%.  The 2014-15 School year graduation rate is 89% making it the highest graduation rate we have experienced.  This is the result of the relentless dedication and focus we have been developing over the last few years.  Additionally, the District focus for preparing all students for college, career and citizenship has improved graduation numbers.

Parents and Guardians are essential partners to students’ success in school and in their futures.  We have several opportunities for parents to learn how to best assist their students in learning.  We have parent education nights offered at your student’s school, where parents will learn more about the new California State Standards and how to best assist students in learning the new methodologies.  Schools in the District will offer Parent Literacy Academies where parents will be guided through a series of workshops that will engage them and their student in reading and writing.  Parents will be able to connect with their children through rich literature and discussion.  Don’t miss the opportunity to be involved—you are very important!

Your school year will be outstanding we are here to support you!
